Hey! You've probably already seen Meg's update, but I just wanted to say something too! Soooooooooooo, HI!!!!!!! Check back tomorrow for more stuff!

Seeing the City

Hi, this is Meg! Today was really fun! We went to see a lot of monuments and memorials (Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Reflecting Pool, WWII Memorial, Vietnam Wall). The Reflecting Pool was my favorite because whenever I looked at it, I could see the Washington Monument, and also there were ducks and ducklings that were sooooo small and cute. I loved it so much!

After we saw all the monuments and memorials, we went to dunch (that means lunch and dinner at the same time). Or you can also call in linner. ;)

We also saw the White House, but we were only able to see a little bit because we were so far away and two days before we came, they were doing a tour of the gardens, but we missed it. =( The White House was soooooooooooo cool because that's where the President lives. I wish I saw the President. It would be so cool if we did. It would be awesome if I lived in the White House. I think Sasha and Malia are very cool, and I wish we could be friends with them. If we could, we would make great friends because they're the same ages as me and Lydia.

We are sooooooooo tired because we walked FIVE MILES!

Hey! Right now we're in our hotel room. Today we went to Chinatown to have lunch with our mom's friend Jen! They haven't seen each other in person in twenty years! That's who did the bunny ears on Fluffy, the ring-tailed lemur. So cute! We had lunch at a Spanish (not mexican) restaurant, where Jen had flan. That's why we've been singing "Girls, they wanna have fla-an! Oohh girls just wanna have flan!" all day long. (inspired by Meg's shirt that says "Girls just want to have fun").

After lunch, we went to the American Art Museum, which is a part of the Smithsonian! So cool! There's a really awesome mural made of license plates from ALL FIFTY STATES! And the really cool thing is that are all in alphabetical order! If you can't read what they say, it says "We the people of the United States, blah blah, blah, yattah, yattah, yattah, constitution"! Well, the pictures really show the rest of our day. Soooooo, bye!

The National Zoo

Hi, this is Meg and we just got back from the ZOO! We had a lot of fun. I LOVED the giant pandas. That little boy on top of the zoo sign does not belong to us, and he would not get off for our picture. :(

This is my stuffed animal, Fluffy. She's a ring-tailed lemur, and we're taking pictures of her everywhere we go on our vacation. Here she is on the Metro. I like riding the Metro because it was a subway and I love trains because they go really fast, and I love looking out the window and seeing a lot of stuff. And also they remind me of Japan. :D

When we were riding the Metro, there was an escalator at the end and it scared me SOOOOOOOOO much because it was very high, and I felt like I was going to fall. You can see how big it is in this picture!

Here is Fluffy on some bamboo at the zoo. Did you know bamboo can grow a few inches high in just one hour? In one week it can grow 6 feet tall!

Here's Fluffy with me and Lydia on a bear statue.

It was a really fun day! Except for the big escalator.

Our first vacation is spring break! And guess where we're staying? Washington D.C.! We just got to our hotel. Tomorrow we're going to the National Zoo! After that we're just going to hang out in our room (just kick back, eat popcorn and pizza, and watch a good movie). Well, now it's time to hit the sack! Check back tomorrow for an update!
